Here's an excerpt from Lights Out:
"In Havana, and then in other major cities, resistance to Batista began to take the form of sabotage and terrorism. Individual activists cells..................used cocktail bombs to spread carnage in the streets of Cuba................."

Dreams
When I think of Fidel Castro, I think of stolen dreams. What kind of dreams? Fulfilled dreams stolen from the old, unfulfilled dreams stolen from the young, shattered dreams not yet dreamed.

On Writing Memoir
Memoir takes you to a corner of the world you’ve never
thought existed. A corner of the world you may have walked by a thousand times
or a corner of the world where you walk by only once as a tourist.
Memoir is where the reader finds out what really happened in
that corner of the world. Memoir is the personal experience that will take you
to a prison cell in a beautiful tropical island, a classroom in one of the most
prestigious schools, a basement of a house just two houses down from where you
live.
The Last Communist City
This article was written a few years ago, but it’s as accurate today as it was when it was written. Tourists will always see what tourists go to see.

This
was a most informative book. I learned so much and have since passed
the book on to others who are taking a trip to Cuba. Everyone who has
read it before or after their trip has then recommended it to others.
It is a must read for anyone planning on going to Cuba.

it was amazing
A wonderful life story
of a girl growing up in Cuba during the early Castro years before she
and her family left their homeland and emigrated to the US. A sad and
inspiring account of everyday life in the communist dictatorship. The
writing style is engaging and places you on the beautiful island midst
the warm relationships among people. If you ever wanted to know what it
is like to live in Cuba, this is the book to read.
