In a four-hour speech (he loved speeches), Fidel immediately appointed Osvaldo Dorticós, a communist lawyer, as the new president. Dorticós then announced Fidel had been reinstated as prime minister and head of the government. It was at this point El Caballo (Fidel's self-given title) really began to trample everything that was good in Cuba.
