Céspedes’ presidency did not last long and neither did the tenure of his successor. From Machado's departure in 1933 until 1936 there was one president after another in Cuba. Some lasted a day, some longer, depending on how much they would comply with Batista’s agenda.

........Machado complied and left Cuba, appointing Carlos Manuel de Céspedes acting president. Later ex-president Machado was amnestied for extending his presidency and in 1950, the Cuban Congress declared Geraldo Machado de facto President of Cuba from 1929 to 1933, thus legitimizing his second term.
