School continued to be useless. The government slogan for the year was drilled into our minds every morning. The government mouth piece we had for a teacher would say "write .......... on top of your page". She was one of the many overnight trained teachers.

Excerpt: Indoctrination
Indoctrination in school— including instillation of hatred for the United States— continued to be part of the daily curriculum and was drilled into the young Cuban mind.

A Marxist
A Marxist can explain everything to advance his own ideology. A Marxist always counters. A Marxist (almost always) will never change. He will be a Marxist til death. So sad.
Cuba was enjoying.....
Cuba was enjoying a prosperous post-World War II economy.

MartÃ's love for children
Continued
Martí’s love for children is also reflected in his poetry; he never would have imposed the evils of communism on Cuban children. Any writer’s words can be twisted and misconstrued, but read MartÃ’s poetry and tell me he was a communist. Read his writings when Spaniards incarcerated him bound with shackles and tell me that he would approve of the horrors Fidel have imposed on political prisoners.

Continued.......
Yes, Martí wrote about the miserable conditions and the injustice he saw, but Martà wrote about many things. One minute he described the plight of the factory immigrants in New York City and the next minute he wrote about the marvels of Coney Island and ecstasy he felt when visiting there. His poetry reflected what he felt at any particular moment, and some of the happiest times in MartÃ’s life, as recorded in his writings, were spent in the United States. He was critical of the U.S., but he did not hate it.
